MASTER JULIO CESAR
Started in 1996 at the Gama Filho University, Taquara campus, in the Northern Zone of Rio de Janeiro with the encouragement of teachers Pedro Gama Filho and Paulo Jardim, who were the precursors in the construction of the jiu-jitsu team. Teachers Julio Cesar, Marcus Bello and Alexandre Baraúna took the first steps towards the growth and expansion of jiu-jitsu.
Initially, the work was developed at Taquara UGF. As the space became smaller in relation to the growth of the team, it was transferred to the UGF of the Piedade campus which offered a better infrastructure. It also began expanding to the neighborhood of Vila da Penha, a suburb of Rio, and spreading out of Rio de Janeiro, in Sergipe, with professor Marcus Bello.
We highlight the important participation of professors Pedro Gama Filho and Paulo Jardim who at all times supported the team and its athletes, giving scholarships, and supplying the needs as much as possible, contributing to the team's growth.
Through the teachers Júlio César, Marcus Bello and Alexandre Baraúna, began the formation of black bands accredited by the team and increasing the nuclei, with ramifications, expanding through Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and abroad.
With the professionalization of the team, broadening horizons for the training of athletes not only for jiu-jitsu, but also MMA, it was necessary to change the name of the team because we could not link MMA to an educational institution. And, with the death of Professor Pedro Gama Filho, the support of the UGF was lost and the team was reformulated. Then came the GFTeam (Grappling Fight Team).
In less than two years the GFTeam had already consolidated, continuing the work, expanding more and more.
Currently, the team has more than 250 representatives spread around the world, with investments to grow even more.
The headquarters is now located in the district Méier, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, with a structure that caters to all athletes.
